21/12/2024 - New EP; Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice is an Electronic five-track EP I made for the Winter Solstice, which was on the 21st of December. It is the last bit of music I put out for 2024. Welcome to 2025. HAPPY NEW YEAR! For those who don’t know what Solstice is, it is the time or date (twice each year) at which the sun reaches its maximum or minimum declination, marked by the longest and shortest days (about 21 June and 21 December) and is celebrated at Stone Henge each year in the summer. Boy is it cold out though I know it’s winter here in the UK but going out is embracing I only nip to the shop which is a couple minutes walk to my local famous supermarket but I walk extra fast to get there and get back again in 0 of the time. I don’t know what happened to my gloves surprise surprise I can’t find them but I don’t own a scarf or hat even though I used to I know how exciting is that lol. It hasn’t snowed for a while now the last time was in December and that was vague and didn’t set I wish it would though I could get some nice pictures and do something with them or make a snowman I haven’t done that for years. The last snowman I made we called it Radar I don’t know if you have seen the picture but it was a bat-like snowman with pointy ears and branches for teeth I didn’t put any hats or scarfs around the snowman but it looked good spent a couple of hours making it and then posing and taking pictures with it it was fun. I do hate the winter though it’s so cold as I live on the top floor of a flat which isn’t that high up but it gets cold and dark up in here lucky for the heating which makes it warmer but when there is a strong wind it doesn’t work properly and it gets drafty in here but I always got my duvet. Summer will be next for us but for now, the cold air of winter is here and I wrap up warm and blast the central heating and look forward to spring my birthday and especially summer which is actually my favourite time of year. Winter Solstice (Intro) is a short intro I made for the EP and I like it quite a lot I like the wind sound over the synth stuff which I played using a keyboard it sounds quite good. I do like to make intros and outros for some of the music I make and is always fun putting something together for them. The next track Mid Winter Sun is a moody bassy track which I quite like and like all the sounds used in this EP I used Omnisphere which I like to use for all the summer and winter music I make. I like the bass to this one over the synthy sounds which I think is one of my favourites on the EP. Oh for the drums I used the Mars Collection which consists of all the most famous drum kits that ever graced this earth such as the Roland 606, 707, 808, 909, the Lin Drum and more but I like to use the Roland 606, and 808 drum kits quite a lot and started on the Lin Drum kit not so long ago since I don’t use it that much in my works. The next track The Snow Starts Winter is another moody winter track that reminds me of the snow or the cold wind but especially the snow. Again I like the synth sounds over the bass which once again I think goes together quite nicely and is one for just chilling at home or whatever. I also like the ending which I think brings it to an end and a climax so to speak. The next track Golden Sickle is another moody winter track designed for just chilling at home in the winter but like all the tracks can be played all year round. I like the bass which I think is the same bass as the first track but I played a different pattern which was by accident. I do like the bass over the chilled synthy sounds which is one of my favourites on the EP I think the bass awakens the track and brings some liveliness to it. The ending is alright too with a more gentler finish to it and a repeater to let you know you have now come to the end of the track. The last track Winter Worship is yet another relaxing winter track and is my overall favourite on the EP. I like the synthy sounds and also the loud and in-your-face bass which I think makes the track. The tracks remind me of the cold winds that come from the Arctic. Again I like the ending to this one and the drums and the change of the bass brings it to the end with the final synth at the end.Â
