With the nice weather and as it’s summer, I decided to make a UK Funky EP with more club danceable vibes or songs to have on in the background. I haven’t made any UK Funky for quite some time now say six months or so, so I thought I’d add more to the collection since it’s just one of my favourite rave genres to dance to and also to have on in the background. I called it Sumthin’ Funky In The Air as I smell something off in the air and is also a play on words of UK Funky and the smell of party or a vibe that sweeps the party if you know what I mean. It’s also the bad funk with Brexit still being thrown around and the impact that did IE more racism and a blurred line of what is British or on the other side of the pond American. Both Donald Trump and Boris Johnson are bad leaders and shouldn’t off been voted in and there is still a bad smell in the air and looming around and as I said before being a millionaire doesn’t automatically put you down for world leader and is usually for greed and gain but it seems not everyone understands the principle of you work for me. I’m so glad here in the UK the Tories are out and the Labour Party stepped in we can only hope that Kier the new prime minister does his best to pull the UK out of a bad spot cos trust me it’s bad and they are coming out the woodwork shouting and screaming about stuff they don’t even know about or even care for, for that matter. I really don’t understand how you vote for someone who you know damn well they don’t care about you or don’t want to see you better off not if it’s interrupting their pockets which are deep and well-oiled. It’s actually shocking to see Trump run again after such a big scandal of corruption and uncounted votes my jaw hit the floor and it goes to show what money and power can really do and it doesn’t matter what you did before just as long as you got the money, power and votes so long for humanity and the Christianity way. The other funky smell is on YouTube and the conspiracy and gossip or tea channels I like a good conspiracy but when you know something just isn’t right with what they are saying it does make me question what they get out of it. All I know is there are some impressive liars and people who would say anything just for that clout and exposure especially when you heard this before and off a channel you couldn’t trust as far as I’m concerned. I’m all for the truth but to blame the wrong people and spread vicious rumours is well out of order it took me some time to fully see what’s going on and it’s usually just rumours they make out are gospel. And don’t get me started on the fake thumbnails I’m crying trying too on how stupid you think I am but go ahead feed the birds tuppence ahead. The first track Crossing Lines is a danceable party track to get you in the mood for dancing. It’s one of my favourites on the EP and I like the pitched-up vocals which like all the vocal samples and as always I found on Splice.com. The drum loop I got from my collection of UK Funky samples and came from a sample pack which I used on most of my UK Funky stuff. For the synthy stuff, I used the Matrix from Arturia which I used on nearly all the tracks as I liked the Matrix over the UK Funky beat and for the bass, I used one from my collection of basses from a House sample pack or it could have been from the UK Funky sample pack. The next track Oi (U There) is another favourite on the EP and I like the bounce on this one and the arrangement I did. I also like the synth and bass but especially the synth which sounds like a chewed-up mangled tape that just about plays. It’s another one to dance to and pour shots and one to get you in the mood to dance and party the night away. I like the vocals which make it more of a party track which again I found on Splice.com, you really do get some good samples from Splice.com and I always seem to find something I can make a banging track out of. The next track Time Stands Still (You’re Still Running) is yet another danceable club track or one to have in the background while you are doing your stuff and another favourite on the EP. Again I like the vocals which I think enhance the track and make it into a banger. I think this song is very radio-friendly and something to play in the summer heat too but I think it would go well on the radio and on online radio too which I think where it’s best suited. It’s sort of a chill song too and one you could have on in the background without the need to run to the club so to speak. The last track U Like is my overall favourite on the EP I like the bass and again the vocals which always make the songs and why I use a lot of vocals in my production. It’s one to dance around to and is an idea for raves, parties, festivals and carnivals or in your room. Hopefully you will feel it like I do and get the plays I want so do give me feedback on any of my tracks I make I’m waiting for your feedback and hopefully some suggestions so let me know.
A bit of a change a UK Funky EP with four UK Funky-inspired club tracks. I got the drums online but I made the bass and some of the drum and percussion loops. I’ve made a few UK Funky EPs and one album but this is my favourite EP of the lot and I went for more bass, percussion and drums instead of using synths which I used to like using a lot in my rave stuff but I now like the stripped back versions which makes the bass and drums stand out more with the vocals on top. All the tracks have vocals which I got from my online subscription with Splice.com you find some good ones from that site even though they say not to send off the tracks with the samples used in Splice.com to any record company. The first track Feeling The Time is not my favourite on the EP probably my least favourite but I like it. I like the vocals which I got from a vocal sample pack which I brought from Loopmasters.com when I was buying more loops than one shot (one-hit sounds). The next song Just Called To Say is one of my favourites on the EP and I was quite pleased with it, to be honest. Again I found the samples on Splice and the second track already had the telephone fx on which I liked and knew I would make a good track with it. It gave me a few variations to chuck up in the air and I thought it was a good club track to dance to or a song to play loud in the car. I like the vocals but I like the bass too and is over a standard UK Funky drum pattern nothing too wild and nice and simple to make. The third song How It Feels (Bet They Don’t Tell Ya) is my overall favourite from the EP I like the bass and the vocals which gives it that club feel with the bass and the UK Funky drum pattern. I love vocals like this and also gives it that deep feel or warehouse room feel which I love, I was lucky to find the vocals and were exactly in my downloads of unused samples I think. I liked it for a later date so I was pleased when I rediscovered it. I think it goes with the beat and I would say one of my favourites for the moment of all-time stuff I made I would say. The last track We Make is another favourite of mine on the EP but not the most favourite I think it’s a good song for drinking and partying and I like the bass and vocals the pitched vocals make a change to the ones I usually use but I like to use a wide range of vocals, what I like the most and that is suitable to the track. The vocals say we make music and that’s what I love to do so this is also going out to all the music makers worldwide doing your thing.
A UK Funky EP for you and some of what I think is my best so far I didn’t put any instruments over the bass and drums and I think it came out much better than the stuff I was doing so I have now decided to spare the instruments on most of my House and other club genres like UK Funky, Jungle/Drum & Bass and UK Garage which I don’t make a lot of but I am thinking of doing some more in the near future. I called it Black Smoke In The Mirror as the black smoke represents toxins and the mirror is the reflection staring back at you which could be anything. One example is watching conspiracies on YouTube or the latest gossip or something that is a stereotype video with someone being hateful against a particular race it can be damaging and two examples of that are the whole biracial topic and Aaliyah’s untimely death with Beyonce in the middle and Jay of course. Let’s start with the bi-racial topic as I think it’s a good one and needs to be discussed, being mixed race or biracial I face a lot of backlash from both white and black and all the above but still people and I’m not getting at the people who are on YouTube debating the whole thing it needs to be discussed but the people who have no idea what they are on about and join the conversation and make all these accusations without knowing what the person is like. Thankfully I have knowledge of both my black African side and my white Scottish side from an early age and I am not the person to be calling any race a dirty name let alone someone who is black or mixed race or quarter cast so I find it hard when people say things like oh you only got to where you were as before I fall ill with a mental illness I was going places and I did a bit of kids TV work behind the scenes, I was a dummy in the music industry for Ant Records a House record company, I also went to uni and got put on a placement for a sound picker for GTA which I saw the ad for it in the Voice Newspaper. But when they say you only got to where you were cos your race that does my head in it’s like go and read the daily mail or something Fox News for you international people. First of all, I worked hard and was at the right place at the right time I said this a few times but I’ll say it again I was at a place called Fire Station which was where all the promoters in town DJs and MC and music producers used to meet and hang out and there were always propositions and motions taking place it was fun to be around. I know there were a lot of different races working at all the places I mentioned and most of the places were fair but I do hate when people just assume it’s like saying you only got there cos you were on your back it’s annoying. The other thing is these damn conspiracies that keep popping up like the death of Aaliyah which, to be honest, I had a turn after her death with my mental health and that was all to do with the conspiracies before and after death which at the time there were lots of different conspiracies with the famous and some really did make me ill and looking at everything in funny angles thinking I had inner knowledge of celebrity life. I’m over it now but it did take some time to get over it and to stop thinking so mental as it’s not good for my health so please be careful what Kool-Aid you are sipping cos it could lead you down a funny path.Â
A House and UK Funky EP again for the summer and is a little different to what I usually make but I’ve made it in the past and wanted to make more but make it better than the last time as I wasn’t happy with the outcome of the album I made before. I used to work in the UK Funky field what as that is yet to be decided but shout out to Supa D for giving me the part but it was a whole lot of walking around and promoting also music-making but I went all over the UK outside clubs and bars and field research and that was fun and a right laugh but was tiring, it paid well though and opened so many doors for me it was untrue. I saw on the internet that UK Funky isn’t dead and I haven’t heard that much in more recent years and that’s good to see that it hasn’t died but I miss going out raving it was one of my favourites to rave to or to go out on a night out whatever and wherever that was. UK Funky is just one of my favourite genres and is hard to put it in numbers from best but House and Jungle is also my favourite which is why I also make a lot of that it all stems from the rave scene I have always been a part of and started from an early age, while I’m there shout out to all the old ravers, promoters DJs and anyone else its kind of weird as when the rave scene went quiet around 1992 I forgot all about it and went back to the normal life which was good as I was just a kid but I’m been dipping in and out throughout the years.
