Here's To Yesterday

Here’s To Yesterday is a ten-track Electronic album I made recently. I called it Here’s to Yesterday because I have some good memories, and sitting back and thinking about it all, I wish I could have a little slice of that again. It beats sitting on the computer all day and getting square eyes, as they say. I will be 40 in March, and I think I had my days of raving, but never say never again, and it is a possibility I could face. Lol, that sounds dramatic, I know. So many good memories at a different time you wouldn’t have thought you would have half of these things and seems like it’s far-fetched but as laws get stricter and people get more moody and dramatic with it should I say it’s no wonder why there are so many laws but some are just killing the vibe. Like the laws on illegal raves which okay there is a lot of noise and a bit of damage to the property but apart from that it is harmless and is a buzzing community on that field from all sorts of lives. It’s a good chance to get out and listen to music live with all the live acts and stuff they have for your entertainment and it involves a lot of small businesses which is good for the economy they could have just tightened certain laws like how loud the music should be instead of axing it down to nothing. The last party I went to was an A&R Launch Party which was for UK Funky House around 2003 -2004. It was actually hosted at my current address and where I am living now. It was on the cusp of the new laws restricting it in further I think it was about how many people can gather at a place with music except shops and businesses. The windows which were a one pane-slide windows could slide back to half of the window and it was quite a big size I could easily throw my TV out the window and not smash the window and I am talking about those non-digital small portable TV which I had quite a few of them now I have a big screen and only use it now and then due to TV Licence but you should know how I feel about that after writing so much about it over the years. But basically my two rooms but mainly my living room were quite a big size and the windows could open up quite wide so it was decided to host it at my home and I was to host it. What a day and night it was I won’t write too much about it here I probably do a separate post for my blog or something but it was something to remember. The first track Silent Footsteps is a winter synth number which it was going to be an Electronic winter album but I did an EP which will be out on the Winter Solstice on the 21st of December. I like the bass and the synths which I think came from Omnisphere and the drums like most of the drums I used from the Mars Pack which has a wide range of drums from Roland and Lin and other famous drum one-shots and I got for ridiculously cheap something like a £1 or $0.70 in dollars. The next track Love Me Some Honey Rap is a playful one that confesses my love to rap girls. I prefer female rap and Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliott are my favourites but I like them all to be honest and try not to get into the beef they have with each other except that one time but that was fair game I reckon. For the track, I used the Vocoder from Artuiua and used my own voice which I inserted into the Vocoder as it’s one of the plus sides of having the Vocoder if you’re not shy to use your own voice. The next track Disintegrate is a melodic slow number and a favourite on the album. I like the bass and the synths which the first synth is quite relaxing and peaceful until you get woken up by the second lot of synths. It is my favourite pattern I’ve made and I like the synth sound too which the first and third synth sounds came from Omnisphere and the second and bass came from Arturia V Collection like all the others to be honest as it’s my go-to plugin to use for Electronic vibes. The next track Road Block is a moody dark number and something to wake you up from the last one Disintegrate. I called it Road Block as I thought it was quite a moody number and another favourite on the album as I like the sharp synths and the moody bass and the synths are quite moody too. It reminds me of like being in a game and fighting the big boss at the end or being in a dungeon even though I do think it’s dark but not dingy if that makes sense to you. The next track Love Me Some Honey Rap – Alternative Mix is the Alternative version of the original track also called the same name. I said I do some more alternative versions and remixes so here they are and all jumbled up. I like this one better them the original track I made and was just changing it ever so slightly and changing some of the synths and the bass. Slate Sky is another favourite on the album and another moody number and is more along the lines of 80s Synthwave with the drums which I got from my Zenhesier 80s One Shot Kits which comes in handy. I would say this is one of my overall favourites on the album and I like the dark moody bass over the dark and moody synths with some soft synths for the chorus it sounds good. It really reminds me of 80s music and probably something that could go for an 80s horror credit of a film. The next track Road Block – Alternative Mix is the alternative to the original track with the same name. It is another dark and moody track and another favourite on the album as I like the dark and moody side to it with the drums I made I think goes well together with the alternative patterns I made for the synths and bass. The next track The China Call is yet another favourite on the album and another overall favourite too. I like the Chinese flute-type synth which I have used on another track before but I thought I use it again as I like the sound. I like the other synths too and remind me of the music they play sort of on the something soul show I really can’t remember the show’s name but it was a good show and something I found on Soundcloud but the other synths remind me of the stuff they would play on there show and I think makes the track. The next track Silent Footsteps – Alternative Mix is the alternative version to the original also with the same track name. I prefer this one to the original and I like the bouncy bass and I like the intro too with the other synths I added along the way and I like the alternative patterns too which I used the original file to alter the patterns ever so slightly. The last track Catch The Fever is another playful Vocoder number in which I used the Vocoder from Artuiua and the drums from the Zenhesier 80s one-shots. I like the synths and the bass on this one and I like the 80s appeal to it which I think the drums and the Vocoder do that. I also like the vocals in which I say Cheba Cheba catch the fever.

19/11/2024 - New Album Release; 6 Pack Remixes Vi

More six-pack remixes of some of the other tracks that are from some of my Jungle/Drum and Bass, UK Funky, UK Garage, House, Experimental, Gaming and Synthy vibes tracks. I went with what I had already using the original file as a template and changing bits and pieces along the way adding new sounds and patterns. I got the drum loops and the synthy stuff including the bassess from Splice.com and the loops I had already which I bought from Loopmasters a long time ago but they always come in handy to quickly get the show on the road. For the vocals, I used samples from Splice.com and as you know by now if you follow along with the reading it is my go-to place to get samples for the tracks I make including basses, vocals, drum patterns including breaks for those Jungle/Drum and Bass tracks, synthy stuff like keyboard sounds and synthesizer sounds, one-shots of all the range and so much more. I am impressed with Splice as they have the sounds to elevate your music to the next level and I’ve been using them for a while now and still, they churn out those grooves that hit the spot. As my other Seagate hard drive is broken I had to use my newer tracks but when I get back onto my other computer my laptop I will be digging up some much older tracks but ah there isn’t nothing wrong with remixing newer tracks but I do like to spread them out like legs lol. I have a special folder of tracks I made but never got released so I might be digging into that folder to find some good ones to bring to life and remix them as well who knows I feel like making some music now but I have a lot of stuff to do and a backlog for my websites but I think I’m nearly done. The first track Monkey See Monkey Do – Remix is off my And Along Came Alice EP that I released not so long ago. It is a chilled but vibey number and is good for just chilling or doing whatever you are doing. I like the synthy sound over the sine bass and the dramatic strings that serve as the chorus which is my favourite bit on the track. I changed the sounds and the patterns making something new but I did keep some elements in there to make it sound the same but different from the last one the original track. The next track Chyld Please – Remix is off my Shake Something EP which is also out now and available on all major music platforms. The track is danceable and one to dance to and turn up just a little. I like the bass and I like the vocals too which I used heavily on both the original and this one the remix. I like the end which I like to switch it up a little and bring in more stuff and changing rhythms to something you can shock out to. The next track Nay Sayers – Remix is a slight variation to House and has breaks on the track which I added for something a bit different and it went together so I thought what the hell why not? It is off the And Along Came Alice EP that ‘s been out for around two weeks now. You can easily use this to get fit or step to and reminds me of being on the dancefloor or in the gym not that I ever go to the gym but I was a gymnast so I was always near the gym or near aerobics lessons. I like the ending when there is a different bass and there is a slight variation of the persistent pattern that plays out along the track. The next track Blew Horn – Remix is off my One Man Band Album. It was an experimental album I made around a year ago or under a year ago so I decided to add one track from my experimental album which I’m glad I did as I like the results of this track and think it’s more summer vibes when the weather is hot and sticky or on a cold icy day when it’s just snowed in the morning kind of feel to it. I found the trumpet sample on my free sample and sounds go to website Pixabay.com which I cut down to size and added filters and other things cutting down the file into different variations and sounds to make the track and it’s one of my favourites on the album and I like the filter trumpets I layered which took a lot of work but I used the same file as the original track so it was half done for me as I picked up where I left off. The next track Shake It In Rotations – Remix is off my Shake Something EP and is my overall favourite on the album as I like the change half way through and the club feel to it. The track is a variation to the first track the original track which I added a synthy sound and changed the bass and other sounds also making slight variations in the patterns. I went manic at the end bringing it to a close and it gets busy with lots of vocals, synths and pressure. It is a dancing track and one to turn up a little bit and dance until you are done I hear club vibes so this could be played in a club or at a rave event or even mixed into a mix and I mix a lot of my tracks so trust me they are good to go. The last track Manic Dramatics – Remix is off my Like A Cow In The Night EP that was a Jungle/Drum and Bass EP I made a few years ago now. This is another one for the club/rave and something to turn up a little and dance if you feel inclined. I used the same bass well bass 1 but I changed the other bass and pattern for a new track but again made it sound the same but completely different from the original track.I would say like this whole EP it would also make good background noise for your parties or me time too.

19/11/2024 - New EP Release; And Along Came Alice

Part of my run-along Dorothy series and an Electronic EP I made not so long ago. I should explain the run-along Dorothy is to the people stuck in a fantasy and don’t want the help but rather perpetuate lies and fantasies about you and see every second of the day to make your life misery cos you believe in something different than them and the truth as far as I can see. Anyway, I got the idea for the title and the EP from the Alices in my life as for every Dorothy there’s an Alice and I do mean Alice In Wonderland. They like to hate and act bad bloody clout chasers always trying to copy you and steal your bag and shine but I don’t care as I know what I got and I’m sticking to it bite me. I’ve been listening to a bit of 70s Electronic and I went back to the drawing board with this one adding more bits and pieces to make the track more fuller. I was inspired by the ’70s and 80s Electronic playlist I created which can be found on my Mixcloud but I noticed how full it was so I added more beats and more changes to make it more fuller and I like the results. I made the drum patterns and used my AKAI MPK Mini MIDI keyboard to play the notes but for the drums, I used the Roland 808, 606, and the Lindrum from my collection of one-shot drums and drum kits which I use on all my Electronic music I make. I don’t use the Lindrum that much but I’m going to make a habit of it in the future as they are good kits to use, oh and I used the Zenhesier 80’s Drum Kit as well for those Synthwave vibes. For the Synthesizers I used the Arturia V Collection and some from the Korg Collection, which again I use quite a lot on my Electronic music and favour them quite a lot. I was also listening to my other Electronic album Rebitten By The Lizard which is one of my favourite Electronic albums I made and also was trying to captivate the same mood of melodic dark and light music and I put this as one of my of my favourites Electronic EPs I made. It’s so unfair as I had a good life before I gave it all up for a simpler life but I was doing a lot of things not to brag or anything just to say how they use that to their so-called advantage and try to eat away at you but the memories are strong and I remember all the good times I had and won’t forget them again in a hurry as I actually forgot about all the things I did in the past and that some of it I was paid for it blows my mind. The first track The Nay Sayers is dedicated to all the naysayers as I said the barn is that way. I hate me some naysayers and hear them a lot online and also in my day-to-day life it really is damaging for your health but please carry on making a twit of yourself. Naysayers is a melodic vibe with a dark bass undertone that I played myself it’s one of my favourites on the EP as I like the melodic synth vibes and I also like the ending where it crescendos into the final. I also like the bass and I used the Mini Moog from Artria for the bass and I’m not sure about the synthy stuff but was either from the Korg Collection or the Arturia V Collection. The next track Alice is for all the Alices stuck in a fairy tale again please carry on you haven’t got to the best bit yet. Alice is a funky synthy number and again one of my favourites on the EP as I like the synthy beats over the bass and drums I made. I like the ending too which I made it a thing to go crazy at the end so please don’t blast it as it probably won’t sound as appealing at a normal level. The next track Monkey See Monkey Do is another one I quite like as I like the simple synth beat over the other melodic bass and synth stuff. I don’t know who opened the gates to the zoo but send them back as I’m tired of these monkeys banging on their chest like I’m meant to be afraid or upset they are so thirsty it’s unbelievable. Like the other tracks I like the ending to this one and I went crazy again adding more melodic vibes over the beat which I used the Artria V Collection I think and I think it goes quite well with the rest of the beat. The last track Diseased is for the sick and needy and is my overall favourite on the EP. They are diseased the lot of them every two seconds they want to add something diseased to the conversation they are twerps I kid you not. Diseased is a jazzy number that is joyful and melodic. I like the first synthy bit quite a lot and thinks it goes well with the other stuff it’s a good track to end the EP and is a ender.
Horror One-Liners

Horror one-liners that I remixed with eight tracks and eight film samples that I randomly picked and made something new out of. This is a dark synthy album so if you are not into dark music then this one ain’t for you but feel free to check out my other stuff I have on this site and around the internet. But if you are into horror and horror music then you might enjoy this mini synthy album I put together.

23/06/2024 - New Album; Mind The Gap

When making music I like to have a focus point and that means some sort of concept behind it this is my first proper attempt at making an instrumental concept album about a man and later on down the line the world’s demise. I won’t give away the plot as I have made an eBook and an audiobook of the story I wrote around the events of what went on so I’ll leave a link to both below but it has a few twists and turns. Mind The G.A.P. which is short for government against people was from an old album I made and wasn’t happy with so I reused the name for the story and concept album as it fitted into the story which is partly on a train. I had fun making the intros which are on all the tracks and I used free samples from Pixabay and my own collection of synth plugins which vary from the Aturia Collection and the Korg Collection which I used quite a lot on the album. I tried to make the album a bit dystopian feel to it thanks to the heavy machinery and I also tried to set the scene for the intros which I had fun doing even though it was sort of a pain collecting samples for the bigger picture but I’m happy with all of them. As I said I won’t go into detail for this album as there are a few things attached like the audiobook and eBook but overall I would call it a synthy Electronic album inspired by Hip Hop drums, Reggae, Dub and Electronic music. It gives me a good excuse to get the keyboard out and play something instead of doing it by hand or playing bare minimal notes which is fun but I like my songs to have variations. It’s a mixed batch of BPMs so there are fast, medium and slow tracks that aren’t for dancing but to have on in the background while you are doing your stuff. I finished this album in four days or though I was writing the story and picking suitable photos for the eBook even though I scrapped them and went for my friend’s lovely drawings for illustration purposes. It’s funny as after my many anxiety dreams I’ve had a lot of inspiration from my nuclear dreams and made a few things around it. I don’t even know what it all means apart from I’m worried about some sort of nuclear attack happening but I’m still not taking the threats that seriously not as much as the internet tells us it’s all doom and gloom. Also, it talks about the careless government and their uncaring but I’m caring side that got a lot of people into trouble. It’s funny as I knew there was going be some sort of hoo-ha with the government which is why I made my first version of Mind The G.A.P. which was all about mocking the government and warning people not to trust them so in short don’t trust them if it’s the last thing you do. It’s like it was in the making and was all planned out and I don’t know what it was but I should have been more vocal in the lead-up to the Brexit row which severed the UK into half. The world is now an ugly place with people like Trump, Boris and even other countries who are now being plagued with rotten and greedy governments who are not for the people no matter how much they claim to be complete hogwash for sure. Part of me is wondering if these people just want to be elected to get rich off the poor and by the looks of things that is what happening so do try and remember your own feelings and others around you before you hit that ballot box cos I don’t want to hear any sighs once they been elected. I don’t care anyway we are doomed either way it’s like picking the lesser evil in a bid to get what we desire come to find out it’s all based on lies and temptation to get us the voters to vote. It does get me angry and that is why I stay away from the news and newspapers when I can it’s too many lies and cover-ups some make me really mad and don’t get me started on the double standards they have the newspapers, outlets and government.

15/05/2024 - New Album; Three Moons Later

About a year ago I made an album called Space Lemonade and my first Afrofuturism album which was mixed with African drums and synths. I liked the album but felt I could have emphasised the African space theme I had in mind so this is my second pull of my take on Afrofuturism in music. I won’t go into what is Afrofuturism in music as I probably save that for a blog post or something special in the form of a blog post or something else I still haven’t decided but in a nutshell, I think the genre is sci-fi mixed with African elements. It’s not really a big genre and has been done a few times so I thought I put my spin on the unknown genre and have some fun messing about with various sounds. As always I used you guessed it Splice.com for all the percussion loops which I loved and think makes the songs more what I want them to be African. I have my African drum one shots which I made various drum patterns with, I only used one or two loops on each track mostly at the start to get things underway but most of the drums apart from one were all that I made and I think makes the songs even more. For the synths, I used one plugin the mighty Matrix from Arturia for all those spacy and Sci-fi synthy sounds and not one I tend to use a lot in the collection but something I always pull up when making Sci-fi tracks as it was used on a lot of old Sci-fi soundtracks from films and TV so it’s the perfect tool to use for any Sci-fi or spacy tracks. The album is something a bit different and my second Afrofuturism album, it’s mixed with Afro beats with other infused genres like Reggae, House, Funk, Latin music and Hip Hop with also synthy stuff on every track. There are some synthy tracks then there are the House or Electronic Dance Music tracks which I made for a difference in the album and some of my favourites on the album and what I have made so far. I say it’s my second Afrofuturism album it’s my third as I have an unreleased album called Afro Cosmic Generation but as I said I wasn’t happy with the outcome and worked out what it needed. The albums was inspired by the film Black Panther and when I saw it in the cinema I was instantly inspired and wanted to make some music but only had a few resources at the time which is just one of the reasons why I underperformed the other reason was that my EQing and compressing wasn’t there but I could play the keyboard that I could do. The first track Homeland Mothership is a synthy number and one of the most synthy tracks on the album. It reminds me of the meeting of the mothership and has a dramatic but melodic bass to it which is more from the genre Progressive Rock which I’ve always been obsessed about and partly my love for synthesizer which started from an early age after learning how to play when I was seven but I properly started but I began at six. I had a tough time playing what is the chorus over the beat, not the one usually to have trouble but this one was hard to play and just about got the job done. I think it’s the percussion clap that sticks in the middle of the mix what does it and it’s rhythmic and melodic so it may have been harder for that reason. The next track Alien Pharoah is another synthy vibe and one of my favourites on the album as I like the way it blends a few minutes in and has this king-like feel to it which I do like. It reminds me of being on the moon but in a palace and entertaining the Pharaoh or king, it has a spacy though desert appeal to it and also reminds me of camels for some reason. The next track The Gray’s System Of Failure is another African synthy vibe and another favourite on the album. I really like the drumming which reminds me of belly dancing and dancing in general and I also like the synths on this one too which is melodic and goes well with the drums. I really can imagine a band playing this somewhere in Africa or the Middle East and I think the drumming is quite funky and danceable. The next track Arfrikan Tribesman is an Afro House track and another favourite and my overall favourite on the album. I like the pumping drums but the synths make the track which I used Matrix from Arturia and vocals from once again Splice.com. I was kind of laughing as I loved how it goes in and out with the crazy melodic sequencer and I think it is one of the best playable tracks I’ve made so far and deserve a play for sure. Moving on to the next track it’s called Brother Planet and has more synthy African vibes. This is more electronic as in space glitch without the space glitch IE technology and has this techy feel to it like robots are marching or something like that. I like the chorus and the second instrument that comes in which gives it that electronic space, robot, intergalactic space feel to it. The next track Alien Power is another Afro House, space vibe track which I like and something a bit different from the other one I made Afrikan Tribesman. I like the drums in this one and the calm synths that are played in and out and act as the chorus. I also like the ending there is something about that synth that does it I feel and makes the song more edgy, dark and mysterious. The next track Planet Suppression is an upbeat breakbeat track that is good for those steppers. I feel the whole world is suppressed and down due to the ever-changing world and the major factors like 9/11, the terrorist attacks and now COVID-19 and other diseases and threats lurking the world needs the happy gas. I didn’t think about doing a sad track to go with the title and don’t like to make songs to drink or to get down in the dumps to not that kind of drinking anyway but I thought I make an upbeat track and I got the breakbeat loop from Splice.com. The next track Space War Face is another synthy African vibe and I like the synth for the chorus and the drumming which is quite fast-paced. It reminds me of the desert again or being in space but in a space desert kind of like being on the moon. The next track Afro Gray is another Progressive Rock space track and another favourite on the album as I like the melodic bass and the synthy stuff too which I think you could stick this on and just relax or daydream. The last track Into The Black Orbis is yet another African synth vibe and more in the Synthwave G Funk region. It’s yet another favourite on the album as I like the synths and the 80s drums I used on this track only for something a bit different from the other nine tracks on this album.Â

19/04/2024 - New Album; Destiny Awaits

I’m back and this time with a short six-track Synthwave album because I felt like doing some as always so sure why not? I used my trusted AKAI MPK Mini and plugins from Arturia the V Collection as I love to use them a lot in all my synth stuff including Synthwave which I make when I’m in the mood like all the genres I make. I called it Destiny Awaits as I feel all our destinies are awaiting and to be fulfilled only we are all stuck in this cycle of self-doubt and unsureness that we can’t rise above the tomb and conquer what our destiny is whatever that is. I have to keep telling myself that I will get there with the right nudge push and fall but now isn’t the time for me with my illness, which I’m recovering from and what I think is a spine injury and some other complications from my mental health which is in the brain. I believe the medicine is doing good and doing what it’s meant to be doing which is stopping the bad side effects of a mental illness. But it’s true all our destiny awaits and not in the fate way cos some people are mixed up in that goth life aka death and corrosion lifestyle and need to see a brighter day but of course be careful of getting destiny mixed up with fate. Fate is death and a negative whilst destiny is a mission to fulfil and for example marry your childhood sweetheart or get that job you so hard practised for or associated with, that’s my definition of fate and destiny but each to their own. There was a post by none other than Jack Jumping Frost a well-known English Producer, DJ and MC who was one of the originals who DJ’d Jungle and Drum and Bass and has been going for quite some time now. Anyway long story short he had this statement where he said you must be willing to fail to win and how it will teach a lesson and it’s true. Your destiny isn’t to say it wasn’t my time or destiny but keep pushing and making baby steps as you go something I think Kelly Rowland and the famous Ciara said if you know you know lol, oh yeah and that lady with the fan action. It’s easy to give up and let the haters eat away at you but what they seem to fail to understand and contemplate is you have good and bad days it is swings and roundabouts so don’t feel like you failed or no one cares it probably was the wrong time or not something they are interested in unless you suck at your craft. The point is a couple of points actually but number one never listen to a naysayer they are diseased and are past their bedtime, number two believe in your craft or know with enough time and effort you will conquer whatever it is you are doing and get better. Number three never chase the dragon yeah you got a few likes and comments on your last whatever it is but it is swings and roundabouts and you are competing with other people but walk away if it’s past your quote of what you find acceptable but only if you have a backup plan or you believe in thirst mites shall we call them, stay hydrated people. I think it’s unfair to sell unsalable dreams but they sell you them anyway all to get your money and basically scam you or get you into debt with the lifestyle you will acquire once those stocks go up which reminds me of how to do those YouTube ads about BitCoin and shares get passed it seems a bit Pyramid Scheme where the little man is sold dreams and gets nothing but pips and ash from the fat cat’s cigars “please sir can I have some more.” Moving on to the tracks I made the first track Eat This is a synthy Synthwave track and is one of my favourites on the album. I like the synths and I like the nighttime feel to it it feels late night and a bit mysterious and something about it. The bass is nice and chilled and sounds like a Sine to me over the other synths which I think I was using the Prophet stuff from Arturia and there are a couple of them so I’m unsure what model it is but it’s one of them. I liked the feel of those synths quite a lot and were quite popular in the 80s by 80s pop bands. The next track Has The Nightmare Started is a surreal and dark track and again one of my favourites on the album. It has my favourite bass rhythms which resemble the Progressive Rock bass and are quite melodic. I also like the synths to this and add to the dark and surreal feel to it. There is a remix to this song that will be out soon on the 6 Pack remixes where I make six remixes of the old stuff I mostly put out on Spotify etc that will be out in a few weeks. The next track Backstop is another dark and mysterious track I also made a remix to and will be out on my 6 Pack Remixes album in the next couple of weeks. I used to like using the sequencer quite a lot so it was good to use one again after a long break from using them. They all have them on there and good ones so I might actually make a sequencer EP or album sometime. I also like the strings on this one which makes it sound heavenly but dark heavenly with that sequencer in the background and awful bass. The next track Remember You is a melodic happy church vibe song which I like and makes me happy. It has more sequencer vibes on and I like that and the bass which gives it a jolly awake track if you know what I mean. It does have a touch of darkness but is mostly a pleasant happy track. The next track Let Go (Inside Fear) is my overall favourite on the album and I like the bass and the claps over the melodic synths which like all the others on this album I used the Prophet from the V Collection from Arturia. I also like its mysteriousness and the tinge of darkness it has to it and I like to use it quite a lot in my music, especially my synthy stuff. I like to keep clear of generic even though sometimes I make generic tracks but I tend to stay away from those kinds of sounds. The last track Search For Me is another favourite on the album it has a bright synth and dark once again Progressive Rock bass which I love to use a lot and like to play that way as I like the melodic bass feel to it. I also like the strings to it and the bits that are repeated after the first synth pattern. It has that nighttime feel too which I like and also appeals to the daytime too. The bit in the middle that repeats reminds me of the melody to Three Blind Mice which I didn’t do on purpose it just happened so don’t sue me lol. Â

In June 2017 I went on holiday to Lizard in Cornwall here in the UK. Before that, I had never been on holiday since the early 2000s. I had such a nice time so much so that I felt inspired and made a whole album about my holiday to Cornwall. This is an old album and I made it also in 2017 as soon as I came home I felt like I couldn’t wait and had so many ideas of what to put in the album. It does feature some actual recordings taken from my video camera and I converted them into WAV files and made tracks out of them which I think makes the album more of a holiday album. I say I made the album back in 2017 but there are five remixes which are at the end of the album I made in 2020 to 2021 when I was trying to make a cassette tape version but things didn’t go to plan. I kept running out of tape and the tape recorder was damaged so it didn’t come out that well but it was only for personal use. I won’t go into too much detail in this post as I already made an eBook with all the details and some other things I’ll leave a link below in case you are interested it’s an interactive eBook. I will say this though it was nice to get away for a bit and be by the sea and sand. They had the clearest water and the beaches were okay most of them were stoney and not good for your bare feet but some were over nice and somewhere I wish I lived by or could get away for a bit but I’m a city boy, to be honest. All the songs are inspired by real events or conversations I had with my friend whom I went on holiday with and are mostly real events and memories I had internally also looking back at the video footage we filmed. Looking back makes me sad as it was when I still had my dog Patch and she was still here I had her put down in 2019 due to old age if you haven’t read that already but she had the best last two years and we went on holiday to the Isle Of Wight the following year in 2018 before she started losing her back legs. I knew she wouldn’t last as long as me I just wasn’t ready for the fall out which is why I haven’t got another dog so quickly on top of the other reasons like being woken up in the night and the cold in the winter. The highlights were going to the beach every day to this little cobbly beach which I will explain later on but also I loved going to the Lizard Lighthouse and the surrounding areas it was the most scenic area and as I said before the sea was tropical it looked good enough to drink. The weather was hot all week apart from the last day which was cloudy but still warm my mate got sun burnt on the head mostly on the third or fourth day and he had to buy suncream it was that hot. I love the heat and made the holiday special or more like a holiday we were lucky to have the weather so nice as it could have been raining all the week we were there. The first track and the intro were recorded on Kennack Sands East Beach and were on the first day and the first beach we went on just an hour from landing so to speak. It was quite misty and as you can hear it was quite creepy and like out of a film. I really thought we were to have horrible weather that week with the cloudy skies and the mist surrounding the landscape. Kennack Sands East Beach is a dog-friendly beach and the main beach Kennack Sands isn’t. We spent a lot of time there mainly in the afternoon and the early evening before the tide came in or so we didn’t want to risk it so we retired for the evening. I would say the next track Mist is a Progressive Rock song and has a heavy bass and also heavy synthesizers which is dark and also has sound clips from what I recorded with the video camera in the intro. The next song Pulse (Blouse & Big Girls Mix) is another video sound bite I got from my video camera. First of all, we were on cliffs and there were gaps in the missing pavement one bit you had to jump across. Anyway I have a fear of heights and there was my friend nilly willy dancing in the moonlight and skipping and breakdancing (okay not actually real events) but he was getting close to the edge and I had a funny feeling. Luckily nothing happened but he was asking for it in a sad way. Pulse (Blouse & Big Girls Mix) is an edgy synthy track and a favourite on the album as I like the synth sounds and the arpeggio pattern I played with my MIDI keyboard. I also like the vocals which are me pooping myself and having some sort of light panic attack. So if you like to hear me cry for my supper please check this track out. The next track Working At The Serpentine is another favourite on the album and I like the synthy sharpness to it with the drum pattern I believe I was using the Roland 808 drum machine at the time and used that for a little while before I started doing them the other way by sample base. There was this lovely disused Serpentine factory that was around until the 1900s when it got closed down. It also where the fisherman sorted and brought in the fish so it was good to be by something so old and unique. It was on a cove called Carleon Cove and not so far to walk from the campsite and even if it was it was sure worth it, there wasn’t anyone there one or two people the whole week we were there. The next track Beneath The Surface is an upbeat track that reminds me of dipping in the water and getting a bit wet which is what the track is about and why there are submarine noises in the track. I like the melodic tone to it with the bass which I like that bass and think goes well with the track. The next track Washed Up is another sound bite I got off my video camera and was taken on Cadgwith Cove. There were lots of washed-up fish and it kind of stunk a bit rotten in the air but still a nice place to be and was a little village of fishermen and women. It was rocky terrain and not any sand but it was scenic and something that was nice to see. The next song Max is about a sheep we saw on a lead and I think was a pet for the meantime. I was lucky enough to get a picture his name was Max which is why it’s called Max and has sheep baaing on the track. The next track Flambards (Skit) was recorded at Flambards an old Victorian village which was quite creepy looking back at it. It had shop fronts of shops of the Victorian era and also other things like a World War 1 exhibition and lots of other items it was nice to see all the old stuff and is quite fascinating. The next track Lighthouse (Alternative Version) is about an old lighthouse we visited on the Lizard coast. We didn’t go to the top of the lighthouse as we had my dog but we did take lots of pictures and also saw the exhibition inside one of the buildings. It’s another favourite on the album and I like the synthy sounds I played with the 808 drum machine I used in all of these tracks. The next track Friendly Locals is about how friendly the locals were. There were quite a few nice people actually but there were two I remember one was a taxi driver and ex fisherman and the other one was a nice man also a fisherman who gave us a lift to Cadgwith Cove after we underestimated how long it was going to take to get there. The track is yet another favourite on the album and I like the melodic and the synthy sounds, I do like all the synthesizers I used on this album and I think I used mostly Repro and Diva from Uhe but I’m not sure now. The next track Pandemic (Chernobyl Alternative Version) is my overall favourite on the album. We watched a lot of pandemic movies on the Horror Channel it was pandemic month or something like that and one of them was Chernobyl Diaries I can’t remember all the movies we watched but they were all about getting a virus or contacting something from someone. This was before COVID-19 so it was like they were telling us something but that’s deep dish FM AKA down the rabbit hole AKA too close to the truth so to speak. I like the Repro bass and the other chilled elements which I think go well together it’s a nice relaxing track which isn’t in your face and good for sleep music if you are into your synthesizer sleep music and trust me there is such a thing. The next track Mediterranean Pasty is another overall favourite and is about the beautiful landscape that was all around us especially Lizard Point on the coast. I don’t know what it is about the track but I think there is something about it maybe it’s the way it’s played with the synthesizer sounds who knows but I do love it and this is also my overall, overall favourite track on the album. The next track Fortune (Pound Up Alternative Version) is about me winning a pound on the slot machines and also playing the two-pence slot machines and winning some on that before putting it all back in where it came from. This is another favourite on the album and I like the brightness and also the jolly happy feeling it gives I like the chorus a lot which I think makes the song and also it’s quite catchy and upbeat which is the feeling I get when gambling dangerous patterns lol. The next track Sea Goddess (Alternative Version) is another overall favourite on the album and I like the catchy feel to it and what the synthesizers produce. We found a statue right by the sea cliffs it was on a small plot of grass over a gate. We don’t know what the statue was there for but we guessed it was a sea relative thing which is why I called it Sea Goddess. The next track Sad To Go Outro is another recording from my video camera. I was so excited when I was going and waiting so when the week was up I didn’t want to leave and felt sad but saying that I was looking forward to getting back but I didn’t want to go at the same time. The five remixes are variations of the original tracks I made in 2019 – 2020 and are all upbeat synthy tracks and something different from the original tracks. My favourites are Pandemic (Gore Box Remix) and Pulse (No Dramatics Remix.) The last song was a bit of an experiment and I thought I wonder what it would be like if I reversed the track so I did I liked it so I put it on the album as the last track for something different and weird.

26/02/2024 - New Album; Brain Freeze

It’s been a while since I made a Synthwave album so I thought I’d make one and this one is a nine-track album with a couple of remixes at the end of the album. I enjoy making Synthwave and have a good collection of synthesizer plugins which I use quite a lot. There’s a lot from the Arturia Collection and a couple from Korg which I heavily use a lot in all my synthesizer stuff and also some of my rave tracks. I got the drum kits from Zenhieser the 80’s Retro Drummer, 80s Drums which is a well-put-together drum kit of one-shots which make it sound so authentic and make it sound like it was from the ’80s, with the patterns I make from the one-shots which again I enjoy doing. If you make Synthwave it’s one for your collection and I use it on all my Synthwave stuff as I love the drums and is what I look for kind of old 80s Hip Hop drums and 80s Pop drum kits so I was happy with my purchase and have made some great tracks with them. I’m happy with how the album turned out and like all the tracks I kind of did them back to back bit over two days as I was keen to finish off the album as that’s the thing there are not a lot of tracks, singles, EPS or albums I haven’t finished there’s a few but most of them I have finished and are out on all major platforms or they are unreleased and are on Soundcloud which is where all my unreleased stuff goes like remixes of other people’s tracks and the stuff I won’t put out for whatever reason. I called it Brain Freeze as my mind is kind of hazy and I can barely remember what happened last decade and all the good stuff I’ve done which as I said before seems like a distant dream but was all real and a good point in my life but sadly all came crashing down when the world stopped for a moment and also my mental health was getting worse and I couldn’t keep up with the demands of the jobs I was doing. Everything just seems like a blur and a distant memory and some of the things I’ve done sound like I’m running up for clout and are all lies but I know I did all those things it’s hard to believe. As I said a few times now it was a different time and there were fewer laws and more importantly restrictions and the world was a good place to be with things like the invention of House music and all that came after that, which opened many doors for people and new ones it was also a good chance to socialize and do something adventurous and local business was always in on the game. The point is now with all these new laws and the way we are nannied it’s harder to think back on the good times that were had and makes it harder for people especially younger people to understand how the earth should be run and how it was which is a million light years away now and something that will never happen again but we can hope for a comeback of some sort I’ll be there in a flash. Also, Brain Freeze means some people have brain freeze and are dead inside I don’t know what’s gotten into people but for some reason, it’s cool or acceptable to bring down someone cos they are so icy well “You so icy you so icy why don’t you pay me on time” hmmm. It is ridiculous though and I’m tired of it just cos you woke up in a bad mood you spew your mess around and make everyone unhappy or so you think as BITCH you won’t kill my vibe. It’s sad really and something I don’t talk a lot about but one thing for sure I won’t let it bring me down and make me into something I try hard not to be a See you next Tuesday as much as I have vented back at them lol. The first track Olive In The Glass is a middle BPM Boogie track which I enjoyed playing. It’s quite an upbeat track and reminds me more of older Boogie styles which were in the 1950s with Rockabilly and Rock ‘n’ Roll also emerging around that time. The next track Days & Nights is one of my favourites on the album as I like the drums and the synthy sounds I played over the beat. I also like the bass which is a simple bass just a one-note pattern but it works with the track and gives off that Electro Funk feel to it with the drum kit which as I said before I love that drum kit so handy. I love claps on some of my Synthwave tracks I used to use them a lot in my House tracks but I notice not a lot of people use claps in House no more so I made up for it by putting them on some of my Synthwave tracks like the second track Days & Nights which I think makes the song and makes it sound again more Electro Funk or 80s Hip Hop. The next track Just A Sec is another favourite on the album and again I like the drums, synths and also the bass. I messed around with the filters on the snare to make this cool-sounding 80s pattern which is like something out of Michael Jackson’s Bad album. I played all the melodies using my MIDI keyboard and I like this one quite a lot it’s something you can have on in the background at a nice volume and relax to it or so for me. The next track Kingdom is a slow-paced track that is nice gentle and soothing. I love the bass on this one and think it goes well with the synth stuff I put on top of that it’s kind of like express music and something I enjoy listening to in my spare time when I have the chance and feel like Synthwave. Again it’s one of my favourites on the album and I like the darkish tone to it but the drum kit especially and I like these drums a lot as there are a lot of variations in drums and sounds in the sample pack. The next track Chambers is another slow-paced track and yet another favourite on the album I think it’s safe to say I like all of them and think they are all good but I like the synths, bass and drums as always and think again makes the track. I love the dark synth bit as the main feature of the track and is part of what I call the chorus which I think makes the track also my overall favourite on the album as I love that synth sound and the melodics. The next track Sound Of The Sirens was inspired by the sound of sirens always going off in the background as I live near an ambulance station not to mention the other services that fly by. I was making it and came across a synth sound which I thought when I played it sounded like a siren so I thought I made a whole track with it. The next track is Kingdom (80s House Remix) which I like as I like the bass and again something to have in the background while you do your stuff. I like the synths I used the M1 from Korg and some samples I got from Loopmasters a long time ago which was the bongo drum pattern that goes throughout the track. The next track Days & Nights (80s House Remix) is a fast-paced rave track that again I got the drum pattern from an old sample pack and used most of the synths I used in the original track swapping only some of the instruments as I like to make variations of tracks as I mentioned before. It has this Electro Funk feel to it which I like and reminds me of doing the robot on a film or something. The last track Chambers (80s House Remix is another fast-paced song and the last couple are the fastest as they are House songs and around 120 -125 BPM. Since it was my overall favourite I thought I remix it and see what it would sound like as a House track, I like it but not better than the original track but it’s okay I suppose I do like it just not better than the original.
