Bandcamp News – New EP Release – Sideways Steps

BANDCAMP NEWS

01/02/2024 - New EP: Sideway Steps

I decided to give away some music and started off with one track but decided I should find another three tracks to make a EP out of and I thought while I thought I was cooking with gas so to speak I should make some more. Sideways Steps is a four track EP I made last night and is now on my free alternative page on Bandcamp and also on Soundcloud where it will be and only be as I don’t own rights to any of the vocals or lyrics so I can’t sale them. The four tracks are from famous songs which I found the acapellas to online and made new songs but they are Megan’s Thee Stallion – Hiss more on that in a mo. Aaliyah’s – Miss You, Rihanna’s – Skin and Guy’s – I Like. I chose my favourite songs from that artists or the last one group and each one I hope is different to each other. I will be adding it altogether in my Remix This series where all the songs I did in the most recent time get’s put on a album and also a free download on my free Bandcamp page. I called it Sideways Stepping as I feel it’s something to dance to and I would call the tracks club/rave music but you can just have it on in the background. I made a visual for the EP as I liked it so much but that can be found at the bottom of this page underneath the Bandcamp audio version or on my YouTube channel Gas No Light. About that thanks to the people who has subscribe to me on there I have twenty one subscribers now and I’m not sure if it’s that one video the one I did for Halloween and was part of my Halloween project which can be found on my other website randomgas.com but I know a couple like music making and music in general.  Okay the first song is from Megan Thee Stallion’s Hiss and for those who don’t know it’s a whole over four minutes of venting by clearing the smoke and dissing a lot of people including the famous rapper Niki Minaj. Okay first thing first I don’t like to see people fight or when it gets out of line but damn I found it funny when I saw Niki Minaj go off for 64 hours including in the end of that space a whole diss track called Big Foot which was all over a mention with one line that left Niki looking like she’s a Storytime of Lil’ Kim’s book  in my opinion but ONE LINE. The remix to Hiss is a G House mix and has a upbeat beat and bass with bossy lyrics which is why I like Megan Thee Stallion a lot she’s bossy, my two favorite rappers at this time is Erica Banks and Megan Thee Stallion for their style and lyrics alone. The next track is from Aaliyah’s I Miss You and like the first is another favorite on the EP as I like the bass and the vocals which I pitched down and up for a mix mash of range.  I delicate to this one to Aaliyah of course and anyone you may of lost in your life no matter how close or distant you were from them. She was a big impact to not only in the music industry but was a inspiration to anyone she was in front of including myself and she really was angel disguise she was, and on that note shout out to Brandy also. The next track the remix to Rihanna’s Skin is a Funky House track with once again pitched up and down vocals with loud basses and catchy melodies. To have a deep conversation about skin and what it means to be certain shades and the power words like light skin is a whole new topic but I’m just getting the whole take on that and am relearning stuff like Tribalism and also the one drop rule stuff I used to be quite familiar. I’m British or English mixed with mostly African but I’m Scottish and Welsh as well as Germanic Europe  and places like Nigeran, Togo and Benin, and have tribal links to Bantu People so I class myself as and identify of being white and black which makes brown. The last track from Guy’s I Like It is a special one and I found some decent 80s Acid House drum pattern which I filled with the acid bassline and the vocals plus other stuff. It reminds me of when I went to Sunrise Back To The Future in 1989 which was a rave that played House and New Groove and Disco and Soulful tracks throughout the night to the next day usually in a field or abandoned place. But it reminds me of that and by the way I was four and it was a different time. I tried to make it like the DJs were spinning tracks with scratching and shouts over the acid house beat I like it and no pun intended. If you would like to hear the tracks I sampled please go to randomgas.com and under the main menu is Hub is Inspirations please click on that to hear the original track and the remix I made.

08/12/2023 - New EP; Fear Inside You

The last EP of last year 2023 and more clubby house tracks. I called it Fear Inside You as I thought it was a good title for an EP but more importantly, the older I get I’ll be 39 next year but the older I get I realise that fear was inside me and I can’t be shy or get paranoid about silly things and also things that are out of my control. I’m more of a happier person now I have dealt with my paranoia and other issues that were a burden to handle from a young age but I survived and got through it and I can still produce a smile. It’s not only fear that lives inside you that needs to be let go of but it’s also your well-being and not overdoing it with say drug substances or alcohol too much is damaging for your body. You might end up regretting starting the abusive relationship you will develop from too much drug substances or alcohol for example. This is except for cannabis and some other drugs I won’t mention not to get the hype bandwagon out but too much of something is always a bad thing. The other thing as the song from Martin Ikin’s Nothing To Fear goes, (And in case you don’t know what song that is it is a house banger with an acid bass and diva singing.) As the song goes “I think it’s something I feel but there is nothing to fear.” It’s all inside you and something you feel which at times can be quite tense and scary but it’s mostly in your head. Especially when you have the haters on your back but if you know you’re not X, Y, or Z there is no need to stress about it as they also say the truth will set you free and lies will always be unwebbed. I am a believer in not letting your fear get the better of you and doing bold things like doing something you don’t do and is out of your comfort zone especially if you see light at the end of a very dark tunnel. I was lucky though I had the guidance around me to guide me through my younger years and also my teenage years which helped me help other people better whilst they went through their troubles and stuff but it’s all swings and roundabouts. It’s the same with the luck I had from my younger years to around 22 which I’ll be sharing on this website gasnolight.co.uk as I make them. The first track Ahead is a bassy house track not my favourite on the EP but I like it. I think it needs something more to it but you can be the best judge of that. I do like the vocals which like always I get my vocals and one-shots and loops from splice.com. It reminds me of stuff you would hear in a club and I would say it is danceable or something you could stick on at a party but not my first choice.  The second track You is not the most danceable go-at-it track on the EP but I think it’s the type of music to have on in the background while you do your thing but is suitable for the lounge of a club or something for the cloak staff in the cloakroom. It does get more clubby at the end where I like to change the beat into something new, upbeat and faster-paced to close the song down. It’s one of my favourites on the EP and I like the end bit the most on this track even though I should have added more elements to it like some unexpected sounds. I’m relearning how to make music and is a step-by-step process which involves listening to other people’s music from the early years the most to get a good feel again. The next track There goes to the haters simply questions snivelling vinegary tits are you there? As in are you all there? Or do you need a blanket and some coco ha! I like the vocals on this and the bass I made which made it more unaware dancing in the club track which I’m happy with. It’s another favourite on the EP and probably my overall favourite on the EP as it’s something to dance to and have a good time and is something I would dance to in a club or rave for example. The last track Let Me is a bassy track and is a medium-paced track that is danceable but also good for just chilling or doing what you do like on the computer or jogging/working out. It’s not a favourite on the EP but once again I do like it and am happy with it even though I don’t class it as my favourite I like the change of feel to this track which makes it sound different from the others’s tracks on the EP as I like to make them all different or though that’s always the plan.

02/11/2023 - New EP; The Last Time

Happy New Year people I hope everyone had a nice night I didn’t do much but ah maybe next year. I made this EP now last year now and is another House music club party EP for you. I love to make House music quite a lot nowadays and seems to be the most popular so I thought I make more since I enjoy making it and is more popular than the other stuff I make but I will make more of the other stuff one day lol. The first track Born is a club party track that I think would be good for dancing and has a club/rave feel to it. It’s one of my favorites on the EP as I like the club feels to it and is good for stepping you can’t beat a bit of one-two-step music ha. I got all the vocals from the same place Splice.com and I think has the best club vocals that are good to go and don’t take much messing about IE putting FXs and other things on them. The next track Just is another favorite on the EP and is something I would have on in the background it’s not the most danceable track but the bass and the rhythms make the track and I think is something to enjoy. I like the vocals on the track and I also like the bass too I have a wide range of bases now but I tend to use the most bassy basses as I like my bass bassy and loud. I would say the track has club appeal to it and is something you could play in a club but is not the track to go wild with and is a steady pace track I would say. The next track May U is another bassy house club track that you could dance or bop to if you are not in the club. It’s another favorite on the EP and I would say my overall favorite on the EP as I like the bass and I also love the vocals to this one it makes it more vibey and clubby. I would say you could dance to it and is another track to two step to or skip to and is the stuff I tend to listen to in my spare time when I’m not making music or when I go out I love to listen to tracks like this and just lose the time and before you know it the lights are on and it’s over. 🙁 The last track Around The Corner was inspired by Christmas coming around the corner and now it’s over for another year but I based the title and the music on Christmas and was my House Christmas song even though you could listen to it throughout the year. I like the bass and again I love the vocals it’s a kind of opera that I ran to by accident and thought I could use the vocals for something special or what it was intended for. I would say it’s similar to Deep House and has a calm and pleasurable feel to it and is something you could have in the background or at the start of a night before you go out. You don’t hear a lot of Opera in House music so I think it’s unique and works quite well for Deep House and other genres similar to that. It’s not my favorite on the EP but I like it and think it’s some good music to listen to.

26/11/2023 - New Album; Merry Synthmas Vol. 2

More Christmasy tracks and Vol 2 of this year’s carols that are remixed to the future. This time it’s all Synthwave or synthy tracks. Again I picked my favourite and some of them I liked and sang in school. It’s been a few years since I made a Christmas carol album so I thought I would make it and remake it more synth as the title does say synthmas so it does suggest lots of use from synthesizers. Again just to point out the obvious merry synthymas is a sort of play on the words merry Christmas and has the words synthesizer and Christmas in the title. I only know the most famous carols and Christmas hymns so it was hard to make up another 12-track album with new songs so I decided to remake my favourite and choose some other’s I didn’t consider last time. Watch Their Flock is the hymn Whilst Shepherds Watch Their Flock By Night and is a Christmasy Synthwave track with the 80s drums and Christmasy synthesizers which I think make the songs on this one and has that Christmas feel to it I think. It’s not one of my favourites on the album but I enjoy it and would be something or something I would listen to around Christmas. Holly is from the Christmas carol The Holly And The Ivy and has this Christmas feel to it with something that sounds a bit like a Haripschord with the fat bass over it. It has an 80s feel to it too and I would describe it as a bit mellow and a bit Hip Hopy with the synths that play after the main melody of the song and carry the song making it a bit different from the last version. The next song Christmas Tree is from the Christmas song O Tannenbaum or Oh Christmas Tree I like the laid back but melodic and uncertain feel to it and brings it into the future. It’s one of my favourite carols to sing even though I have forgotten all the lyrics but I like the melody to it and the ending to each bit which does get tiring on the singing side but it’s a nice Christmas song I think. The next track Ye Merry is from God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and is something a little bassy, dancy and a bit different and also fun. I like the fun side to this song and isn’t necessarily Christmasy but might be fun for the Christmas party with alcohol involved. Like all the songs it has an 80s backdrop with the drum patterns which I made myself and love doing 80s drum patterns, especially electro stuff. Night Silent the next track is from Silent Night and is something a bit different to the album and Christmas. Well, I say that something samey something different. I like the calm feel of it and the different synths which can be heard from the start of the first synth. It’s one of my favourites on the album as I think it’s quite a soothing song to listen to and also Christmasy. Three Ships is from the hymn I Saw Three Ships Sailing In and is a funky Synthwave track. It’s also another bassy track and an old favourite one to sing to and reminds me of school and also singing it in church Christmas time in the early 2000s. Noel is from the hymn First Noel and another favourite on the album. I like the calm and soothing feel that reminds me of Christmas and winter. It’s a good track to unwind and just relax by the fire or whatever which is what it reminds me of. Ye Faithful the next track is from Come On Ye Faithful and is another favourite on the album as I like the Christmasy jolly feel to it which starts at the beginning of the track. I also like the bass and the chorus to the track which is the main bit of the song and is repeated a few times. It definitely reminds me of Christmas and again is something I would play around Christmas and hopefully you do too. The next track This Child is from What Child Is This and is again one of my favourites on the album as I like the electro bass to it and the Christmas feel to it. It has a whole lot of bounce to it which I like and the standard drum patterns but I think the bass makes the song with the synthesizer you hear at the beginning of the track and goes throughout the track. The next track Good King is from Good King Wenceslas and is another jolly upbeat version of the song and isn’t my favourite but I like it all the same. I like the upbeat feel to it and is one of my favourite hymns to sing and is one of my favourites overall. I think it’s another song that reminds me of Christmas and is something to get drunk with or have fun doing whatever you think is fun. The next track Three Kings is from We Three Kings Of Orient Are and again one of my favourites on the album as I like the bass and the synths which make it funky. I also like the bits of the chorus which I think makes the song with the bit before that. I would say it’s my favourite overall track on the album and also reminds me of winter but especially the holidays. The last track on the album and to finish this edition of Merry Synthmas is Lang Syne and is from the New Year’s song Old Langs Syne and as if I had to tell you that. It has a calm feel to bring in the New Year of 2024 and is not something I have done before or considered to have the Merry Synthmas album but I thought I put it on as something different and relaxing. Well if you celebrate Christmas or whatever you celebrate have a nice Christmas and also a Happy New Year or though I’ll be posting more during that time just in case Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

26/11/2023 - New Album; Merry Synthmas Vol.. 1

Something a little Christmasy and Vol 1 of my Synthmas Christmas IE synthesizer music with a Christmas twist. It’s an old album I made years ago and decided to release as a main album for Christmas. This year I did Vol 2, which is also up on all major platforms and is more synth stuff than this one as this one is a mixed-genre album but I’ll be posting that in the next week or two a little bit about the album so stay tuned for that. The twelve-track album is of Christmas carols and hymns which I picked as my favourite for this album. I enjoy Christmas carols in the church but I haven’t been for a while it gets me in the Christmas mood. I found the MIDI files online from various websites so shout out for the recordings.  The first track Three Kings is a synthy track which has a choir on the track and is one of my favourites on the album or though I could have made the choir a bit better but it’s okay I suppose. The track is from We Three Kings of Orient and is my favourite carol or at least one of them. I like to make a choir version one day maybe next year as next will be a winter album but I have a few releases up or to be released soon so look out for them. The next track another favourite on the album Holly and is from Holly And The Ivy another favourite and well-known Carol. The song has this 70s bass to it with a melodic melody to the carol and also it has this bright Harpsichord sound that I think makes the song. The next track The Good King is from Good King Wenceslas and another favourite Christmas carol and carol on the album as I like the 80s feel to it without it being too Synthwave but it’s a synthy house number it’s kind of chilled but upbeat at the same time and has this cool feel to it which I like quite a lot. The next track Hark The Herald is from Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and yet again another favourite on the album. I like the arp and the 80s bass it’s quite a chilled track and one of the chilled tracks on the album. It definitely reminds me of Christmas this one and is something I play quite a lot around Christmas time. The next track Ye Gentlemen is from God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and is one of my favourite carols yet another one. A bit of a change for this one and is a Reggae-infused track which I also like to play around Christmas and is something different. The next track This Child is from What Child Is This and is a House track again something different and something a bit bassy and Christmasy another track that feels like Christmas probably cos I play it around Christmas and also on my radio Ghosting Radio every day from 8.00 PM – 12.00 AM, Monday to Friday and 6.00 PM – 12.00 AM, Saturday and Sunday from the 25th of November to 31st of December GMT every year. The next track Ye Faithful is from Come All Ye Faithful and is a relaxing track not one of my favourites in general and on the album but I do like it. It reminds me of New Year’s Eve and also Christmas as I think the synths make the track or though I think it’s so so but I do like it. The next track Noel is from First Noel and is yet again another favourite in general as in carols and also on the album. I like the synths and the bass which I think it goes together quite well and I like the bit that comes in the quarter a way in the track, it also reminds me of Christmas I think it’s got a nice Christmas feel to it. The next track Do You Hear What I Hear is from the carol Do You See What I See. It has yet another 80s bass with synth music and relaxing drums or generic but it goes with the synth stuff.  I like the follow-on patterns and the flute-like sound it makes it feel Christmasy but also funky. The next track Away In The Manger is from the carol Away In The Manger and is another funky favourite on the album. I made it a bit more upbeat and it has this Hip Hop feel which reminds me to do more Hip Hop sometime as I enjoy making it and haven’t made any for a while now. The next track Watch Their Flock is from Whilst Shepheards Watch Their Flock By Night and is another favourite carol and also on the album. I like the bass and the synth stuff which again makes it Christmasy and gets you in the mood for Christmas.  The last track Night Silent is from Silent Night and another favourite on the album and in general. I like the calm peaceful of it which I think is quite relaxing and again Christmasy for some reason it reminds me of Christmas Eve and also Boxing Day.
