Hi, my name is Laurence AKA Gas No Light AKA LaLa and I hope you don’t mind me emailing you but I got your email from the Bandcamp mail list. It will be all about my music like music news from my major releases and my free Bandcamp stuff, visuals, and playlists from other people’s music which is mainly old-school, my own playlists, podcasts eps, my own playlists of my music, interactive stuff, games and all the stuff I make basically.  You can opt out by unsubscribing at the bottom of the email if not it’s nice to have you on board.   

As you probably can guess I make music and also I love computer designing and making a lot of visuals and other stuff for my website and for YouTube but mainly for my website. I’ve done a lot of things during my time on this earth and I’ll be thirty-nine next year I was born in 1985 in Bristol in the UK. I was brought up around promoting and doing bits and bob with music and I’ve been playing the piano and keyboard since I was seven. But being around promoting took me to some very good places including working in the music industry as a dummy which is more like a handyman but for music and I did various jobs from on and off the keyboard and sound testing. It was for Ant Records a House record company and I did that in the 2000s I also did some work on the UK Funky House scene. Also, some kid’s TV work working with puppets. It’s funny actually as I got the job due to my young self doing a job with a man I knew who had his own Punch and Judy show for those who don’t know what Punch and Judy show is it’s a seaside set up a stall show with puppets about a husband, wife, dog baby and plenty of sausages.

I knew a man who had his own licence and did the show and I was messing about with the puppets as we were packing up and he noticed I could do one of the moves he said I had flexible fingers so long story short he taught me how to handle the puppets and that turned into me getting hired. I did it every weekend and was mainly kids’ parties but at first, it was on the seaside. He always said he would hire me for the long term if I wasn’t young cos I was around 10. When I was 18 I was doing agency work for kids’ TV and one day there was a call for flexible people with little to no experience in handling puppets so I thought I had a bit of experience and after what he said, I was doubtful but more like I might get the job so I applied and ended up getting it and got hired a few times working for Cebebbies and CITV. It was kind of like a bad time for me but I was stuck in this dream and nightmare. At the time the shows that I was on just come out apart from one so I wasn’t really taking notice of the names of the shows I did get my name in the credits which ones I can’t remember but it was the shows out after 2001 when I left school.

As I said I do like to design stuff on the computer and have been designing since the 2000s when I went to uni to study computer and design which was designing on the computer, algorithms and a bit of psychology I went to America to study. Another funny story there was an ad to study aboard it gave me the inspiration to do and it worked out a lot cheaper and was a change of scenery. I suffer from a mental health problem and gave up working for my health it was bad and I was losing it I was also young and dumb and now I’m a lot better or feel better even though it’s not the case.

Anyway, I’m trying to keep this shortish so that’s enough typing for one day but take care and the next email you will get will be a post from my website even though it won’t be just yet.
